What The Secret Garden Reminded Me About Mindset

roseI recently read The Secret Garden with my daughter.  Reading this book during the cold and snowy winter we are having was a good choice,  as it helped to remind me of the spring that will eventually come. This classic provides a great message on the power of mindset and positive thinking.

France Hodgson Burnett’s novel, published in 1911,  tells the story of  orphan Mary Lennox, who goes to live with her uncle in Yorkshire, England.    The main characters wrestle with their attitudes and perceptions of themselves throughout the book.   At the end, they are all  transformed physically and mentally through changing their mindset , helped along by the beauty of their “secret garden”.
